Jphn,

Hello there. At the moment it looks like I will be teaching a LISP course
this spring. I will definitely use your book. Do you think that
we could make some arrangements to get copies made at Stanford and shipped
out here? Do you have your lecture notes, exams, homeworks, etc. so
I could make use of them.

How is the book coming along? One of the guys taking my data
structures class apparantly called you up about the book - Arnold Williams.
So, you see, I have been a good publicity agent for you!

Things are OK out here although I doubt if I will ever get used to it
but I do my best at trying. Let me know about my questions.
I replied to you sooner, but I found out that I sent the message to
the wrong person. Oh well. See ya!

                                           Hanan,

John,

I called you up today but you were not in. Here is the story.
If I can get a good Xerox copy, I would prefer to make the
copies myself here so that I could use the book immediately.
I am afraid that otherwise I will not get the book before the
second week in February. Please reply and possibly indicate
a time when you can be reached. I will be home tomorrow
morning for at least a reasonable time. My phone at home
is (301) 345-6092 . This has been a long day - it is now 3 AM here
so let me catch some sleep before you call me!

                             Hanan,

John,

Do you agree with my assessment of Henry's paper as set forth in
REFRPT. In particular, do you think it should be rejected or
rewritten and resubmitted to a referee. Basically, am I too harsh?
Are my comments accurate? Am I correct with respect to
SHALLOW binding construct being wrong when need to set value
cells to UNBOUND. Thanks. I want to get the referee report out
quickly.

                                 Hanan,

P.S. Why don't you discuss the assignment problem in your book.
At least give some interpretation. Do you think my ANOMALY
interpretation is correct? I was thinking of sending it to
INFORMATION PROCESSING LETTERS if it makes sense? I feels that the whole issue about binding and assignment is rather murky and some
decent standards would be a relief - especially since
assignment is an important operation. Would like to talk to
you about it.
